GENERAL INFORMATION

Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles whose range of applications has grown considerably in recent years. However, its usefulness goes beyond capturing photos and videos from the air; Drones can also operate as robots, specifically aerial robots. This is possible thanks to the incorporation of onboard computers, which allow them to process information obtained through their sensors and, thereby, generate commands for their engines, allowing autonomous flight control.

To encourage and promote the development of autonomous drones in Mexico, the TMR organizes the category of autonomous drones, in which different challenges or flight missions are proposed to be executed by a drone. This can be a commercial model, an armed drone, or an original design. However, the main focus of the competition lies in the development of artificial intelligence that allows the drone to execute tasks autonomously. Therefore, the score assigned will depend on the level of autonomy demonstrated by the drone in the execution of the missions.
