Each year, the TMR supports the winning team of the <em>LARC Open Challenge<\/em> to represent Mexico in the Latin American Robotics Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within LARC, a new challenge based on real-world problems is proposed every two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this edition, the <em>Latin American Robotics Competition<\/em> presents the challenge of building a coffee-harvesting robot\u2014an activity of great importance to the region. Latin America is one of the world\u2019s leading coffee producers, and currently, hundreds of people work in the fields manually harvesting coffee beans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This challenge invites young Latin Americans to develop an autonomous robot capable of identifying and collecting ripe and overripe coffee beans, while leaving green beans on the trees. Once collected, the beans must be sorted and transported to a designated area called the &#8220;beneficiadero,&#8221; overcoming various obstacles present in the scenario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Restrictions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate in the LARC Open Challenge, teams may consist of up to 4 members. All team members must be students at any educational level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teachers who accompany the team and wish to receive a certificate recognizing their participation in the event may register as mentors.
